Vice Chancellor, Satavahana University
Prof. U. Umesh Kumar, Department of Chemistry, Osmania University has rich academic and administrative experience. Earlier he served as Vice-Chancellor (I/C) (2015) & Registrar of Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda, for three years and Registrar of Sathavahana University,Karimnagar for 2 years. He was a Post-doctoral Associate at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Vermont, Burlington, VT, USA, during 2001-2002. He has putin 28 years of teaching and 20 years of research experience. He has 36 articles published tohis credit in various national and international journals. He undertook Two Minor Research Projects of UGC. Under his guidance Nine research scholars were awarded Ph.D and One student is working for Ph.D.
He was appointed as EC member of Central University, Andhra Pradesh, and as Governor Nominee of Chaudari Bansilal University, Bhiwani, Haryana.
He worked as the DeanFaculty of Science, Palamuru University. He has won laurels from various academicians for his outstanding academic contributions. He is conferred with various awards in recognition of his academic excellence in his chosen field. His awards include Senior Research Fellowship in 1990, awarded by CSIR, and First Rank in M.Sc. (Applied Chemistry) of Osmania University.
He presented papers in many International conferences such as 222nd ACS National Meeting held in Chicago, USA, in August 2001, 238th ACS National Meeting held in Washington, DC, USA, in August 2009 and 242nd ACS National Meeting held in Denver, Colorado, USA, in August, 2011. He is a Member of American Chemical Society, USA.
He held various administrative and academic positions in Osmania University. They include Warden at OUPG College, Mirzapur, Principal at OUPG College, Biknur, Youth Welfare Officer, Students’ Affairs, Osmania University, Joint Director, Directorate of Admissions, Osmania University, Chairman, BOS and Head, Department of Chemistry, Osmania University.
He won accolades for his administrative expertise as the Registrar of MG University, Nalgonda and made him receive the prestigious “Indira Gandhi National Level NSS Trophy” from the Honorable President of India on November 19, 2015.
